The right music can elevate any occasion – but none so much as on your wedding day. There are so many different moments during the event that warrant just the right songs to match them. It may seem overwhelming, but Birkat Elyon is here to help. We’re in the business of matching couples with the perfect, gorgeous cubic zirconia engagement and wedding rings and can offer these useful tips.
WHAT MOOD DO YOU WANT TO SET?
How do you want your wedding to “feel’? Aim for a soundtrack that will reflect that. Of course, include songs that are appropriate for different moments during the event, such as a slower, more meaningful song for your first dance. On that same note, if you and your honey have different musical tastes (he likes metal, you love country), figure out a way to include them, but add plenty of other “neutral” songs that all your guests can enjoy. After all, it could be pretty jarring to hear Metallica followed by Tim McGraw.
DON’T WORRY ABOUT THE NARRATIVE
Some couples stress over the playlist, thinking that every song has to somehow be relevant to their story. Not so. Yes, you can include a special song from your first date, but feel free to include music you just want to dance to! Think about the moments when a “meaningful” song would pack the most punch, like your recessional down the aisle. That will help narrow it down.
WATCH THE LYRICS
Remember that several age groups will be there – and grandma may not appreciate some songs that are naughty. Also, avoid songs about breakups or sad events. This is supposed to be a happy occasion.
If you plan to DIY your music…
PRE-LOAD YOUR PLAYLIST
Make sure you’ve loaded your entire playlist before the event. Nothing like a bad wi-fi signal to interrupt your streaming and ruin the mood.
TRIM THE SONG
If your playlist includes songs with a realllllly long intro or outro, feel free to cut them down. Those too-long bits can kill the energy in the room.
DO A TEST RUN
Before the big day, do a set-up and soundcheck. At the very least, do one before the guests arrive.
Birkat Elyon hopes these tips will help you choose the perfect music for your big day. If you want the perfect CZ engagement or wedding ring, we can help with that, too!
