The runways have been busy lately, with the big fashion shows of Europe and New York giving a preview of what will be “hot” in 2019. There were plenty of extreme (and pricey) high-fashion looks on display. But there are some affordable fashion looks that can be adapted to real-life. So here are 7 hot fashion trends for 2019 to add to your own closet.

WARM, SUNNY COLORS
Rusty reds, wine shades, and all variations of orange and yellow are popular colors on the catwalk. Designers are using them in everything from slinky cocktail dresses to outerwear. One edgy variation? Combining two warm colors in a single outfit. But if that’s a bit much, just add a pop of “sunshine” to any outfit and you’ll be on trend, no matter what the season.

FANNY PACKS
Yup, the all-purpose, hands-free carry-all is hot again. But designers are upgrading them in luxe new materials like leather. Some are even showing them being worn, cross- body on the diagonal. So dig your old fanny pack out of the back of the closet and know that it’s not just practical – it’s hip!

TIE-DYE
Your first thought may be a flashback to Woodstock, but that funky hippie staple has made a big comeback in the world of high fashion. The updated version of tie-dye employs fewer colors (like just two). The pattern can also be layered over a solid color t-shirt to be “less busy.”

LAVENDER
In the last few years, pink has been one of the go-to colors lately for several designers. But for 2019, it’s being edged out by lavender. This soft-purple hue was on the runway in everything from formal wear to suits. If that seems like overkill, work this “it” color into your wardrobe in a blouse, scarf, t-shirt — even a handbag.

TUXEDOS
The classic “menswear” look is a new alternative to a fancy evening dress. It even made an appearance by one well-heeled celebrity guest at the recent wedding of Britain’s Princess Eugenie. A tailored approach is critical, but if you don’t want to go full-on tux, a well-cut black suit jacket with a crisp white shirt is an alternative that can be worn casually with jeans or dressed up with sleek black pants or a skirt.

UTILITY WEAR
Remember “cargo pants”? They were comfy, loose-fitting and had pockets up and down the thighs for things like keys, money and your phone. Well, that idea of “utility” is hot again, whether in pants, jackets or even one-piece “boiler suits.” The updated look slims down these elements, making them less bulky. If you already have a pair in your closet, visit a tailor to adapt them to the new silhouette.

WHITE TANK TOPS
Every woman knows that a plain white tee-shirt is a tried-and-true staple of every wardrobe. The step-up for 2019 is the ribbed white tank top. Some designers this season had their name screen-printed upon it (maybe you come up with your own slogan?). Or, you can wear it under a sheer floral top, as was seen on several catwalks.
Now that you have some ideas for upgrading your look, don’t forget the accessories. Birkat Elyon offers luxurious (but affordable) cubic zirconia jewelry pieces that will keep you on trend. From rings to earrings to pendants and more, add some sparkle to anything you wear!
