Congratulations – you’re engaged! Now comes all the excitement (and work) of planning your actual wedding. What should you do first? What can wait (a little bit)? Birkat Elyon has worked with hundreds of couples over the years, providing them with high-quality cubic zirconia engagement and wedding rings. Here’s what we’ve learned about wedding timelines.
Wait a month before actively starting your wedding preparations. In that time, enjoy your newly engaged status, and do two things: discuss your vision and priorities for the wedding and pick a date. You’ll need those before talking to any vendors. Keep in mind that a year is a pretty standard timeline for planning a wedding, and that gives you time to book those vendors you really, really want (the earlier, the better).
The first thing to do on your checklist is to find the venue. Experts note that this is the task that eats up the most time, whether it’s touring the place, sampling the menu, and comparing prices.
Next up, find the wedding dress. A lot of brides wait too long and either pay more money to rush its creation or they have to go with something off the rack.
Get your wedding party together, especially if anyone needs to travel to join in the celebration. Let them know the date as soon as possible. This same rule applies with sending out “save the date” notices: people need time to take off work, arrange travel, and the like. In your planning process, do it sooner than later.
Topping off the “do these things first” list is planning your honeymoon. If you’ll be going right after the wedding, start booking flights and making reservations at least six months in advance to get the best deals.
And speaking of “deals,” choosing a dazzling CZ wedding ring or other pieces for your wedding outfit saves you so much money. It’s a smart move that lets you splurge on other things!
