According to a recent survey, almost 30 percent of proposals come as a complete surprise to the “proposee.” Half of the survey respondents knew they’d be getting engaged but had no idea when that question would be popped. What that means is that, at some point, the engagement ring needs to be tucked safely away prior to the Big Event so as not to spoil the magic. But what if your partner is an epic snooper? Birkat Elyon provides couples with gorgeous, high-quality cubic zirconia engagement rings and offers these ideas for creative hiding places.
First off, always keep the ring in its box to protect it. Consider stashing it in an off-season storage container; if it’s summertime, put it with your Christmas items. In the winter, wrap the box inside a bathing suit.
Take a pair of calf-length socks and tuck the ring box in one of them. Then roll both socks into a ball and stick it in the back of the drawer.
On a similar note, put the box inside the front of a closed-toe shoe. Of course, if you have a pet that loves your footwear, you’d be wise to put this particular pair out of reach.
If there’s a shelf full of books in your home, hide the ring box inside a hollowed-out volume. You can carve out the innards yourself or buy a “fake” book that has a hiding spot ready to go.
It’s unlikely your partner will want to root through your stinky workout clothes, so hide the ring in your gym bag. Just be sure to tuck it inside a zippered compartment so that it doesn’t accidentally make its way into the laundry.
If you opt to hide the ring at home, keep it in a place where kids and pets can’t get to it, and where it’s safe from water, chemicals, or food. Have some fun snooping around your own place to see how you can outsmart your partner!
