What is a Synthetic Diamond?
Also known as cultured diamonds or man-made diamonds; synthetic diamonds generally have a faint yellow or green tint though they are available in a variety of colors. Also available in many colors, cubic zirconia are generally white and give off a higher dispersion of prismatic light than diamonds. Synthetic diamonds are made of pure carbon while CZ is composed of zirconium dioxide. Bottom-line: synthetic diamonds have a different mineral composition than cubic zirconia.
What does it all mean?
Though high quality cubic zirconia and manmade diamonds both give the look of fine diamonds, and are often even more lustrous; they’re different stones.
