First, keep in mind that guests (as well as members of your\nbridal party) are not obligated to provide a gift.  It\u2019s not a given. Of course, most people\nwill, but just in case\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wait Things Out<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the first month after the ceremony, wedding presents\nwill continue to show up.  The\ntraditional rule is, guests have up to a year to give you a gift.  So just chill for a little bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Send A Note (Or Not)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two to three months after a no-show gift, you might send a\nnote thanking them for attending your wedding. \nSpecifically letting your guest know that you\u2019re grateful for their\npresence at your big day might trigger a \u201cDid you get my gift?\u201d message on\ntheir end. Because there are many instances when a package gets sent to the\nwrong place, stolen, misplaced, you name it; a gentle note may solve the\nmystery.  Plus, it\u2019s a nice touch to let\nthem know how much you appreciate them having been there to celebrate with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there\u2019s another school of thought that puts the\nonus on the gift-sender.<\/em>  If they have yet to get a timely \u201cthank you\u201d note\nfrom you, they should reach out to see if the present was received on your\nend.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Let It Go<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

After four months or so, just assume you\u2019re not receiving a wedding present from that person. It\u2019s a bit impolite on their end, but it\u2019s really <\/em>impolite to bring it up to them, so just learn to let it go.\u00a0 And it bears repeating: you\u2019re not \u201cowed\u201d a gift.\u00a0 At the end of the day, your relationship with them is worth much more than another gravy boat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What About the Bridal Party?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

There have been cases where a bridesmaid doesn\u2019t give a gift\nto the bride.  In that instance, they may\nfeel that the expense they\u2019ve incurred with the dress, shower, travel costs,\nwhatever is their \u201cgift\u201d to you.  Follow\nthe above rules, and again, the connection you have with them is what\u2019s most\nimportant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
