Only you can really write something that comes from your heart and expresses that kind of never-ending love that made one of you get down on one knee to ask the big question and the other exclaim \u201cYes!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Once you do that, you\u2019re committing to each other for the rest of\u00a0 your life, and if you\u2019re ready to make that sort of commitment to someone, then surely you\u2019re ready to commit to writing a minute or two\u2019s worth of words expressing <em>why<\/em> you\u2019re ready to make that commitment. Deciding whether or not you\u2019re going to write your very own ceremony vows is a decision every bride and groom to-be must make for themselves, and it\u2019s such a crucial decision that it\u2019s probably the very first thing your officiant is going to ask you about once you select him or her. For some loving couples, penning unique vows is a special way to express to each other and everyone in attendance at their wedding just how much they love the person they\u2019re about to say \u201cI do\u201d to, and (again) <em>why<\/em> they\u2019re saying it.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u2019re still trying to make a decision on if you should write your own vows or not, then there\u2019s a few things you should know. For instance, writing your own vows means there are no rules. OK, we lied. There is one rule: you have to write them yourself and make them come from your heart. But other than that, you can make them whatever you want them to be.<\/p>\n<p>Fancy yourself an amateur modern-day Shakespeare? OK, Mr.\/Mrs. Iambic Pentameter, time to write the best poetry of your life. Are you more of comedian than a poet? No problem. Show off your comedic chops, just don\u2019t go too overboard. Nobody wants to hear your routine, so focus on something humorous you and your partner have done together or something silly you have in common. This can change the feeling of an entire wedding ceremony and show your guests a side of you that they would never otherwise get to see.<\/p>\n<p>And you know what that means, right? It means that whatever you say is going to mean infinitely more to the person you\u2019re about to marry than the generic vows everyone else says. Your other half wants to hear you say what you\u2019re feeling in this moment more than any other, so be bold and lay it all out there.<\/p>\n<p>Now, that doesn\u2019t mean everyone has to write their own vows. Nor does it mean those who do are somehow more in love than those who don\u2019t.
