Fresh off her Super Bowl performance singing the national anthem, Lady Gaga has another big date on the horizon. We don\u2019t know when<\/em> the date is, but it\u2019s going to behuge whenever it is \u2013 it\u2019s her wedding! For those not in the know, the pop star\/actress is engaged to actor Taylor Kinney of Chicago Fire<\/em> fame. The couple met all the way back in 2011 when Kinney was working on Gaga\u2019s You and I<\/em> music video. The couple hasn\u2019t been totally forthcoming about their wedding plans, but they have dropped a few hints here and there. Keep reading for an update on the stars\u2019 upcoming big day.<\/p>\n The Engagement<\/strong><\/p>\n As mentioned, the couple met while filming a music video. In the video, Gaga wore her mother\u2019s wedding gown while Kinney portrayed the object of her affection. (Talk about setting the stage!) Just a few months later the two started dating. They actually split up for a short time in May of 2012, but were back together again in just a month.<\/p>\n Kinney once said of Gaga that she\u201cis someone who\u2019s always in your corner that believes in you and your work, and vice versa. You know, I love what she does and her work and music and charity. She inspires so many people including myself.”<\/p>\n After dating for three years, the couple got engaged just over a year ago on Valentine\u2019s Day of February 2015.<\/p>\n “It was snowing \u2013 it was beautiful,” Kinney told the Chicago Tribune of the engagement, for which he says he had zero hesitation beforehand. “I just knew. It wasn’t a light bulb going off.”<\/p>\n After their engagement, Gaga called Kinney \u201cthe right guy\u201d during an appearance on The Howard Stern Show<\/em>. “How do we know? It’s this feeling,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n The Ring<\/strong><\/p>\n Kinney pulled a bit of a fake-out when he popped the big question. He started out not with a diamond, but with candy. Of course, you can get away with that when you follow it up with a 15-carat heart-shaped diamond ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz.<\/p>\n “First he gave me a Ring Pop. That was kind of amazing and I was crying, I was so excited,” Gaga recounted during last year\u2019s Academy Awards. “I said, ‘Yes!’ right away and then he pulled out the heart-shaped diamond.”<\/p>\n After she said yes, Lady Gaga was off to her family\u2019s Upper West Side Manhattan restaurant, Joanne Trattoria, with Kinney to celebrate. Gaga spent the next two days strategically keeping her ring finger covered up whenever she stepped out anywhere her photo might be snapped.<\/p>\n The Dress<\/strong><\/p>\n Lady Gaga is well known for her elaborate fashion choices, so while Taylor picked out her engagement ring, he certainly won\u2019t be choosing her wedding dress. \u201cI\u2019ll leave it up to her. That\u2019s in her court,\u201d he joked during the People\u2019s Choice Awards.<\/p>\n Besides, he\u2019s too busy getting help with his suit. “I’ll have someone help me out with a tailored suit that fits well and looks nice\u2026 but I’m not out there doing that on my own,” he said.<\/p>\n Interestingly, Gaga had kind of the opposite to say about her dress than Kinney did. “It will be totally for Taylor,” she said. “It’s all about my man. I haven’t really thought about anything specific yet, but whatever it is, it will be totally for him.”<\/p>\n The Big Day<\/strong><\/p>\n Kinney isn\u2019t completely butting out of the planning, of course. It sounds like he\u2019s been involved in most non-fashion planning, though he\u2019s not ready to reveal the date just yet. Instead, he\u2019s said only that they keep going back and forth and that it might end up being \u201ca surprise.\u201d<\/p>\n
