It\u2019s wedding season! In fact, as I write this blog, yours truly is getting ready to attend his sister\u2019s wedding this very weekend. I\u2019m sure plenty of our readers have weddings on the calendar over the coming weeks and months too \u2013 some of them maybe even your own!\u00a0 With that in mind, let\u2019s take a look at some of the hottest engagement ring trends right now.<\/p>\n

  1. East-west settings \u2013 The Knot<\/a> reports that engagement rings with horizontally set stones are big right now. Why? They give rings a fresh feeling for one. But the bigger reason is likely that they make the stones look larger than they actually are, which is a feature that every girl can appreciate. Oval or marquise diamonds work best with this type of setting<\/li>\n
  2. Double halo settings \u2013 The single halo has been in vogue for a number of seasons at this point, but a breaking trend now is doubling up on it. After all, why go with just one when you can have two, right? Consider a double halo ring for an incredibly brilliant shine that can\u2019t be beat.<\/li>\n
  3. Twisted bands \u2013 If you\u2019re looking for something that stands out a bit from the norm without getting too<\/em> far away from conventions, try a ring with a twisted band. Whether it\u2019s a streamlined, braided band or one with artistic twirling diamonds, twisted bands give classic solitaires a modern, well, twist.<\/li>\n
  4. Colors \u2013 Add a splash of color to your finger with a colored engagement ring to go against the traditional look with a striking alternative. Pinks, yellows and other colored diamonds are all the rage right now. Even some celebs are getting on this bandwagon \u2013 George Clooney recently gave Amal Alamuddin a 7-carat emerald-cut fancy yellow diamond.<\/li>\n
  5. Different gemstones \u2013 Of course, the ring Clooney bought cost a cool $750,000, which is probably a bit <\/em>out of most people\u2019s price ranges. That\u2019s OK, though, because one way many couples are getting around the high cost of colored diamonds is considering different gemstones. Even celebs Donnie Wahlberg and Jenny McCarthy got behind that movement, opting for a yellow sapphire instead of a yellow diamond.<\/li>\n
  6. Art deco \u2013 You have to wonder why art deco ever went out of style in favor of more contemporary styles. Art deco rings are timeless and sophisticated.<\/li>\n
  7. Split shank \u2013 Not satisfied with a diamond band? Not to worry. Pave bands split in two for twice the shimmering beauty.<\/li>\n
  8. Floral accents \u2013 Spring isn\u2019t the only thing that\u2019s sprung around here. Engagement rings are currently blooming with petals, vines, flowers and other natural-looking accents. If you\u2019re looking for a ring that\u2019s particularly feminine, try one with a cascade of tiny buds running down the band.<\/li>\n
  9. Mixed metals \u2013 Yellow, rose or platinum? Yellow, rose or platinum?! YELLOW, ROSE OR PLATINUM?! Can\u2019t decide? Don\u2019t stress \u2013 mix! Mixed bands let you work two or all three into one ring.<\/li>\n
  10. Bows \u2013 Beyonc\u00e9 is fond of reminding us that if you love it you should put a ring on it. Well, if you love a ring, maybe you should consider showing it by putting a bow<\/em> on it. Like floral accent rings, those with bows on them are particularly feminine.<\/li>\n
  11. Splashy side views \u2013 There may be no splashing allowed in the local pool this summer, but no one said anything about not making a splash with your engagement ring. Intricate details on the sides of the band will make your ring look fantastic from every angle.<\/li>\n
  12. Rose gold \u2013 Pink gold is making a major comeback, and with good reason. The feminine shade is flattering to almost every skin tone there is.<\/li>\n
  13. Simpler settings \u2013 Instead of using a halo, some couples are going with more interesting settings that make use of unusual cuts flanked by matching side stones. For instance, a big oval stone with a pair of smaller ovals on either side is a popular look right now.<\/li>\n
  14. Unusual cuts \u2013 Not everyone is looking for something simple, of course. Just last year Angelina Jolie, for example, got a ring with multiple baguettes tapering down the sides of her emerald-cut diamond ring. It\u2019s a look that\u2019s a bit of a throwback to the \u201870s.<\/li>\n
  15. Stacking bands \u2013 Soon-to-be brides have gone stacking crazy! People love the idea of stacking bands up right now, and the trend has carried over into wedding jewelry. White metals with touches of rose gold are popular today. Engagement rings, wedding bands and anniversary rings that don\u2019t necessarily match with each other are nevertheless being paired and stacked.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
