Unfortunately, these incidents may be misleading the public and creating a sense of distrust among innocent consumers.\u00a0 In short, they are positioning their CZ stones as \u201cmanmade diamonds\u201d and\/or \u201csynthetic diamonds.\u201d This is extremely unethical as there is a difference in cubic zirconia and manmade or synthetic diamonds.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What is a Synthetic Diamond? <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also known as cultured diamonds or man-made diamonds; synthetic diamonds generally have a faint yellow or green tint though they are available in a variety of colors. Also available in many colors, cubic zirconia are generally white and give off a higher dispersion of prismatic light than diamonds. Synthetic diamonds are made of pure carbon while CZ is composed of zirconium dioxide. Bottom-line: synthetic diamonds have a different mineral composition than cubic zirconia.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What does it all mean?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Though high quality cubic zirconia and manmade diamonds both give the look of fine diamonds, and are often even more lustrous; they\u2019re different stones. The market price for synthetic diamonds is much higher than that of cubic zirconia. If you\u2019re in the market for cz jewelry or a manmade diamond, it\u2019s important to do your research. Understand how they differ and ensure that you\u2019re making your purchase from a reputable jeweler.<\/p>\n<p>Today, a leading\u00a0 CZ jewelry dealer is under investigation for falsely representing the products they sell. Lab testing has revealed that their so called \u201cmanmade diamonds\u201d are in fact cubic zirconia. Will there be more investigations of cubic zirconia dealers using confusing advertising?
